After struggling with severe digestive issues since a young age, I was eventually diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I never knew about this condition and the fact that so many people could go undiagnosed for years, all while causing a vast amount of autoimmune reactions and painful symptoms. Being a disease that has to be treated with diet, the main way to treat it is to eliminate gluten; this allows the intestines to heal from being constantly inundated with inflammation along the lining of the intestines. I eliminated gluten while starting to eat more wholesome foods, and this led to improvement in my overall health. At the time, it seemed like everything contained gluten so I started to create recipes from scratch using simple yet nutritious ingredients. Once I started eating this way, I no longer suffered from the inflammation of the intestines, allergies, fatigue, migraines, or malabsorption of vital nutrients. In the past, these problems left me underweight and sickly with no energy, and unable to function in normal life, so I noticed a tremendous difference when I replaced animal products, packaged and processed junk foods, artificial ingredients etc. with simple, plant-based foods that made me feel stronger, happier, and healthier. I am so thankful I adopted a mostly plant-based diet, and I just wanted to share this story because anyone can start eating natural, whole foods that can help heal and lead to health, energy, and happiness. 

Food Philosophy

Simple Sweets & Treats has a basic approach to plant-based cooking: the recipes are designed with simplicity, and are made with wholesome foods inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients. The recipes are plant-based/vegan, but health is not about a strict label; it’s about an abundance of whole, real foods that are grown within the earth. Not only do these foods nourish the body, mind, and spirit, but they nourish the planet by encouraging an abundance of sustainable food.
